Calling all NBC Hannibal fans!

I’ve been having immense fun over the past month or so running dusk-and-shiver, a fandom gift exchange project for fans of Arthurian legend, and I am very interested in starting up a similar gift exchange for NBC’s TV show, “Hannibal.” The gist of the idea is that artistically-minded fans (whether they be writers, artists, graphic designers, or anything else) gather together and submit prompt ideas for fandom creations they would like to see, then choose their favorite from among the offerings to create a gift of their own. After approximately three weeks, everyone submits their creations and receives a present crafted from one their submitted prompts.

Feel free to drop me an ask with any general questions or concerns, or to browse through the going-ons over at dusk-and-shiver for an idea of how the process works (we’re in the final stages of Round One now.) If you find yourself intrigued and/or potentially interested in participating, just reply to this post via a reblog! Oh look, it’s that time again where my feelings for HobbitCon become too much for me to handle! So I decided to tell you how amazing Mark Hadlow is:

I had already talked to him when I walked in for his photo session and I must have been pretty memorable in my costume so he greeted me accordingly and I imploded almost instantly. I tried to play it cool, though, and presented him with the two chamomile tea bags I had brought for the special occasion and he started beaming at me when I told him what it was.

“Oh, right! Because I say ‘Can I interest you in a cup of chamomile, Master Gandalf?’, right?” to which I nodded enthusiastically while feeling like my face might split in half from how hard I was grinning. He quoted the line from the movie! Ah :D And just look at that goofy smile of his!

Cut to the next day where you could do the group shoot. I won’t say I was first in line (except for the gold ticket people who had their own special line) but, as a surprise to absolutely no one, I totally was. When I walked into the room I started shaking. Not from nervousness but from how excited I was. (It was the best feeling I had ever experienced, tbh.) But then I looked at them all standing there and Mark extended a hand to pull me in the middle and I just, yeah. Kinda started running on autopilot, I guess? I asked them to look like we were about to charge into battle and they were really into it. Best feeling ever.

When I was done I thanked them (maybe a bit too loud, but come on, I was ecstatic) and fled the room. Outside, me and my friend Olga, who had also gotten a group picture, just collapsed into each other’s arms and started crying. As you do. Seriously, never have I had more emotions than in that moment.

But back to Mark on his own. At the autograph sessions I got my Hobbit messenger bag autographed by all the Ri brothers. I went to Mark first and he greeted me so warmly that I almost collapsed right then and there. We talked for a while and he told me to tell his ‘brothers’ how to sign the bag and to say that those were strict orders from their older brother. (That made me smile because afterwards, as expected, Jed told me to tell Adam that those were his orders and not Mark’s, thank you very much.) I then asked Mark for a hug and he smiled a big “Oh yes, of course dear” and omg he’s so warm and comfortable and it was so hard to not just start sobbing uncontrollably into his shoulder, seriously. I kept it together, though I might have gotten a bit teary-eyed.

After the autograph session me and my friend Jazz (who was mooning over the Dean autograph on her boot which really looked pretty cool) were sitting in the upper story of the convention area because I was, frankly, totally done. With everything. I was about to cry from all the emotions swirling around in my head, because those damn guys were all being so fucking nice and I just couldn’t deal with it. It was at this exact moment, of course, that Mark walked by and stopped in front of me. I had been staring at my signed bag that was lying on the floor like the zombie that I was at that moment and I looked up so hard that I swear I heard my neck snapping when I heard his “Everything alright with you, love?” from somewhere above me.

I was at a complete loss of what to say, so I mumbled a “Yeah, I… I’m just overwhelmed by everything at the moment.”

And that lovely man, bless him, answered: “Aw, no need to feel overwhelmed, love.” At that point he leaned down, clasped my shoulder and gave it a squeeze before straightening again and saying something along the line of, “You should enjoy the rest of the convention, it’ll be just fine, don’t you worry.” I nodded with a watery smile and thanked him from the bottom of my heart and, with a wink, he walked away.

So, yeah, he saw a fan having a bit of a break-down and stops what he’s doing to make sure that everything is alright.

He was so very lovely to me and everyone else during that whole convention that I can, again, only compliment Peter Jackson’s genius when it comes to casting. Mark is a total sweetheart and I hope to god that he will be at RingCon or that there will be another HobbitCon.
